The problem with homeless shelters is that they have difficult regulations which often lead people without housing to stay on the street. Whether it’s an 8 pm curfew, no pets allowed, or gender constraints, shelter rules are draconian. If you want to keep your family together or night shifts at your job, there just isn’t a shelter for it. The pandemic has exacerbated regulations, employment, housing and healthcare for people without homes, we need better resolutions, more research and funding to provide adequate access and resources.
