The labor day weekend before 2020 I had 3 days off. My mom mentioned an amusement park that was cheaper than Disneyland. The morning of we decided to check it out.

This amusement park is called California’s Great America. It is located in Santa Clara, CA. Check the calendar and hours before you go. It doesn’t operate every day or all year long. At that time that I went, Groupon had a deal. I paid only $36.99 for admissions and parking!

When you’re near the park, I recommend checking out HiroNori Craft Ramen. It’s a small place and requires reservations. For lunch, prior to entering the park, I decided to get takeout despite there being an opening due to a cancellation. I’m glad I decided on take out. I later found out from reading reviews that they charge a 15% service fee. Ramen is apparently good, but I went with the cheap option and got the small chicken rice bowl (for $7.50), which consist of chicken thigh, soft boiled egg, green onion, and rice. It was delicious and filling.

Before you enter the park, ask for a map to help you find your way around the park. When you enter, you will see the iconic Great America fountain and Carousel Columbia.
