The Day I Went to Disneyland for $30

Yes, you read that correctly. My Disneyland trip cost me about $30. No, I didn’t know anyone who works at Disneyland to get me in for free or reduced rate.

This was a few years ago. I went during the value day. I had a $100 Disney gift card, so I only paid $4 for my Disneyland ticket. The rest of the money I spent on food.

How did I get the gift card? I went to a 90 minutes timeshare presentation. Throughout the presentation, the presenter, who used to play “Prince Charming” at Disneyland is selling timeshare as “vacation ownership” and how amazing this investment is for you and your children. Who would’ve thought “Prince Charming” would do this?

I was not interested in purchasing a timeshare, so the manager was upset and rude to me. I told him I wanted to save money to pay off of my student loans, and I’ll probably won’t use the timeshare enough to make it worth it. He questioned why I even attended the presentation and how everyone needs to take a vacation.

The manager wanted the lady who assigned to give me a tour of the hotel to punish me by having her go through the booklet again. Let’s call her Julie. Fortunately, Julie knew she was not going to make a sell with the pressure tactic, and it was pointless to keep me there for any longer, so she got paperwork for me to leave and get my $100 Disney gift…
