We come in all shapes and sizes. We need fuel and need to be maintained.
Just like some automobiles require more fuel, some of us require more calories than others.
We are built a certain way to take in certain fuel. For example, SUVs and sports cars prefer or run better on plus or premium-grade gasoline. Either by choice, religion, or how we’re built, we may be selective with what we consume. The high carbohydrate foods for people living with diabetes can be compared to the lowest grade gasoline for SUVs and sports cars.
Just like an automobile needs to be maintained to keep running, we need to be maintained to stay healthy and keep living.
For prevention, we need immunizations. According to the CDC, it is recommended to get a flu shot every year, a tetanus booster every 10 years, a shot to prevent shingles (i.e., Shingrix) at the age of 50, and pneumonia shot at the age of 65.
Because COVID-19 is still around, unless you are in quarantine, in isolation, or have had multisystem inflammatory syndrome, if you are 5 years of age or older, you should not delay completing the primary vaccination series to protect against COVID-19.
