Who Are You If Not Your Job
If I am not working my current job, I wonder who I would be and how I would describe myself to others.
For some reason, one of my earliest memories was back when I was in preschool. Using my favorite color crayon, I intentionally colored outside the lines, creating a messy and imperfect drawing. At that time, I didn’t see any problems with doing so until I glanced over and noticed my cousin’s work, neatly colored within the lines.
Ever since then, I had to prove myself that I am capable. In grade school, my strongest subject was math.
Even today, I still remember that one time my 2nd grade teacher gave us a sheet filled with stars and told us whoever gave her the correct total count first would win a prize. I remembered my classmates would count the stars one by one and lose track. I began circling stars in groups of 10s and counting by 10s and arrived at the correct answer first.
It wasn’t surprising when I found out that on the standardized exam I scored the 99th percentile on the math procedure section.
