Member-only story
I recently started writing on Medium again. I’ve been writing daily for Blogmas. So far I’ve written Blogmas Days 1 to 5, Day 6, Day 7, and Day 8. I’ll probably write Blogmas Days 9 and 10 tomorrow tonight.
I gained a few followers within a couple days of writing again. I think it was due to interacting with other writers by clapping and commenting on their stories. I was excited at first, but none of my followers have interacted by clapping or commenting on any of my stories.
I hope my writing doesn’t suck, and my followers are not just following me out of pity or expecting a follow back with no intention of viewing, commenting, or clapping on anything I wrote.
I think monetizing every story is one of the reasons not many people are viewing my stories. I started writing on Medium before Medium had that 100 followers requirement to monetize stories. My first story Self-Reflection of 2020 written last year had zero views. It had no photos. I had no bio picture or actual bio. There was probably many reputable writers writing about 2020, so the likelihood of my article getting noticed is slim. No one’s going to pay to read a monetized story from an unknown author.
