Health professional school is no doubt expensive. Like most students, I took out 2 loans to pay for school. ~1% was covered by a scholarship I earned my 2nd and 3rd year. To cover for my miscellaneous expenses (e.g., conference, travel), I did work-study. I also had a flexible freelance writing job during the school year and 2 short-term seasonal jobs during my school breaks.
No, I did not have a cheap college diet consisting of only ramen. I ordered grocery food online and limit my purchase to no more than $200 per month. I’m able to keep my monthly grocery cost low through promo codes or coupons and choosing proteins and fruits that are on sale at the time.
I wish I had known of apps like Ibotta. I could have saved even more money when I was in school.
I occasionally used Ibotta. It’s similar to Fetch rewards except you have the option to get cash (once you hit $20. You can also get a gift card instead of cash too.) instead of a gift card (once you hit $3) back. You only get cash back on selected purchases at selected retailers as opposed to Fetch Rewards you’ll always get at least 25 points for scanning your receipt.
