What Makes a Good TV Show or Movie?

Is it the Characters, Story, Both, or Something Else?

It’s not just one element that makes a good TV show or movie.

A story of a TV show or movie can be crafted and be told a certain way through the script, characters, visual effects, music, and editing.

This can make a difference between a good and a bad TV show or movie.

Although I don’t like the Cinderella story, I believe it can be considered a good movie if it was told differently with complex characters who undergo development.

An example is the movie Enchanted. It is not that typical Cinderella story with a damsel in distress needing to be saved from her living condition. I like that the movie brings and exposes the fairy tale characters to what real life is like. The blend of static and round characters makes the movie interesting to watch. I look forward to seeing Disenchanted, the sequel of Enchanted, when it comes out late 2022. According to IMDb, the movie Disenchanted sets ten years after her happily ever after when Giselle questions her happiness.

On the other hand, there’s the Cinderella (2021) movie with Camila Cabello that attempts to humanize the evil step mother and stray away from the damsel in distress story, but it is unnecessarily long and painful…
